Tax Return Self-assessment deadline 31st January

Contractors and freelancers who have not submitted their self-assessment tax returns to the HMRC had better do so now as the 31 January deadline is approaching fast.
There is a GBP100 fine that will be given to those who either file their paper return now (as this date expired in October), or do not submit their online form by January 31st.
With some 9.5 million self-assessment returns expected this year the HMRC are encouraging people to complete their self-assessment forms via the internet - (1) they will receive an acknowledgement and (2) it is processed faster and therefore any money owed will be repaid quicker.
