Darling attacks Swiss banking secrecy
24 February, 2009
Chancellor Alistair Darling has said that the Swiss banks must remove the veil of secrecy around their tax and banking regimes, and bring them into line with the rest of Europe.
He feels that this is one of the things that Switzerland has got to address if it wants to be part of the international community. Any secrecy that is allowing people to shelter their money from tax cannot be tolerated, as it is unfair to those people who are paying.
